Clean and Prosperous California Executive Director Clayton Munnings was quoted in POLITICO’s California Climate newsletter after an executive order from President Donald Trump directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to block state climate laws, including California’s cap-and-trade program, rattling California’s carbon market.

Munnings said the market swings underscore persistent unease among traders about the program’s future. “Market participants realized that legal concerns were likely initially overblown, yet are still awaiting political signals from California leadership before finding any courage,” he said.
